Beta for the Beta

I got a copy of the Windows 7 Beta copy from my colleague and installed it on my Lenovo X61 tablet. The install went through pretty smoothly and . upon booting up the computer, me and my colleague had the following conversation..

Colleague : Thats a Beta!!

Me : Yes.. it is Beta..

Colleague : No.. No.. that”s a beta!!

Me : Dude.. seriously.. it is Beta.. I know it..

Colleague : (almost smacking me on my head) No..that is a Beta Fish!!

Looks like a smart programmer (or marketing person) put the picture of a Beta fish as the default background for Windows 7 Beta :-).. Here’s a screenshot.

Hopefully, Windows 7 will finally convince us XP lovers to upgrade. Vista is a failed operating system as far as I am concerned. Not in the league of “Windows Millenium“, but it is going to be shoved away into the annals of history soon if Windows 7 delivers as promised.

Wishing everyone a happy new year.. While 2008 treated me well professionally, it was a tough one on the personal end. If anything, it made me realize the importance of our near and dear ones. How much we take them for granted..

Winter time parking in Chicago

If you ever see a open spot on the streets of Chicago, during winter time, and it looks like this.

Don’t think you got lucky and park there.. You might end up with a broken windshield or worse yet, be beaten up with a baseball bat :-). And the cops won’t even sympathize with you, if you file a complaint. There is an unspoken rule in Chicago.. If a (wo)man spends time to shovel snow on the street and put their chair/basket/table/crap to mark their spot, they are entitled to it, until the snow melts! :-).

As Chris Tucker say’s in the movie Friday “Never come around here again..never, never,ever,ever,ever come around here again…can you do that?” :-).

Stephen Colbert.. I envy you.

I thought long and hard before writing this post.. but finally thought,  the topic was too funny not to share it with others :-). Warning that this post contains sexual content and is NSFW..

I was browsing (I swear) through the channels on my TV, the other night, and came upon a program called “Katie Morgan’s Sex Tips” on HBO. And yes, it was purely coincidental :-).. So anyways, one of the viewers asks Katie about multiple orgasms. Katie brought a guest on the show by the name Marenna Lindberg to answer the question. Apparently this women can experience an orgasm in a few seconds!! Katie asks her to give a demo on screen and voila.. Marenna whips out a picture of Stephen Colbert.. yes, The Stephen Colbert 🙂 .. looks at the photo for a few seconds..closes her eyes and in a few seconds whimpers out an orgasm!!! I was literally rolling on the floor as I watching this :-). And Marenna attributes this to her diet and her crush on Stephen Colbert. She even wrote a book about it.. “The Orgasmic Diet”

So ladies.. start eating fish oil, stop drinking and smoking. Make the “not-so-better” side of you happy 🙂

New land of opportunity for baseball..

Sri sent this link (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/baseball/mlb/11/24/pirates.indians.ap/index.html?cnn=yes#) from Sports Illustrated about a story of how the Pittsburgh Pirates signed up two 20 year old men from India as free agents to be part of their farm. These two guys never touched a baseball in their life!! Other than pitching at a reality show called “The Million Dollar Arm”.

Imagine.. it is the bottom of the ninth, The Pirates are leading by a run and the opposing team has all the bases loaded. 1 strike and 2 balls.. The manager calles in Patel as a closer.. the crowd goes crazy yelling “Patel.. Patel..Patel..” LOL :). Cannot wait to see that..

Supreme Hero.. Sweet Heart..

I came across a compilation of songs from Chiranjeevi‘s (Cinema Actor in Tollywood) 1980s movies. And I forgot how much I loved these songs :).. Esp this one (https://kudithipudi.org/patalau/Yamudiki_Mogudu_Andam_Hindolam.mp3) from the movie Yamudiki Mogudu.. I guess I was in middle school then.  And this was the kool aid we used to drink :).

What can I say.. I love disco :-).. and I am not ashamed to say it..

I wish I can find the video for this song. Chiru was cool in those days :).

Sri found the video for this song on youtube.. the quality is not good.. but you can enjoy the tight pants and shiny shoes 🙂

Even if you don’t know who Chiranjeevi is and what telugu is. Go ahead, download the song and listen to it. The music is discolicious :).
